German Conversation

If you are looking for German conversation opportunities in our Corvallis/Albany area or online, this is the right resource for you. 😊

There are several options for you each term to choose from, some related to our school and some organized by other communities. Here is the overview, but look below for the updated schedules.

FREE In-Person:

DSC/OSU Stammtisch @ McMenamins (on Monroe)
Currently every first Thursday of the month during the academic year. We reserve the long table for German club 7 – 8pm.
DSC/OSU Kaffeestunde in Kidder Hall 210 (on OSU campus)
Every third Tuesday of the month during the academic year. Snacks, coffee or tea provided. 4 – 5pm.
DSC Open House and HolidayFest
Every year at our Holiday Fest we have a German roundtable to join, talk and enjoy German language.
Corvallis/Albany Stammtisch
Meeting every two weeks , ones in Albany and the other time in Corvallis. To find out more Join the Albany & Corvallis Stammtisch: German Conversation Group meeting every other Tuesday.

Other Fun Opportunities:

DSC Board Game Nights
We organize every term at least 1 Friday evening 6-7:30pm to play board games – children, youth and adult groups. We welcome any newcomers who would like to speak and play. We usually order pizza for the night, so rsvp and a donation for pizza are very welcome. $10 for pizza. No-one will be turned away. 😊

FREE Online:

DSC – Tuesday Zoom:
Each term we have 1-2 zoom events, usually Tuesdays 6-7pm. Each meeting has a theme and a presenter. We meet to learn about poetry, history, geography or trip to German-speaking countries.

DSC Paid Weekly Conversation Classes:

DSC – Monday Conversation class w/ Scott, 6-7pm: A2+ level
-this paid class is available each term and meets currently in person at the classroom (10 weeks). Each class has a theme, and provides materials.
DSC – Monday Conversation A1 Level for beginners, 6-7pm
-this paid class is planned to restart in the Winter 2025
