High School German Credit Program
2026 – 2027
Deutsche Schule Corvallis offers hybrid-style classes for high school and 8th grade students in our area.
CHS and CV high schools plan teaching only a very limited number of students in German1/German2 at a CHS classroom. No other classes will be offered. Therefore, DSC plans to support students of German and will offer all levels of classes, German 1-2-3-4/AP, in 2026-27.
Please help us plan and forecast (pre-register your students). Thank you- Danke!

BOOKS:
We use textbooks “Portfolio Deutsch” from the CV/CHS library. We also include a workbook for each student to help them organize the material at no cost, thanks to donors. Our students may also chose any reading books from the DSC library or our CHS classroom space.
TUITION:
Please note that the tuition for the DSC classes in 2025-26 was $980/year/student ($490/semester) that could be paid quarterly if needed.
DSC is applying for several grants and looking for sponsors to support German language in this area, the 2026-27 tuition may change accordingly. We will let all students know by May/June 2026 when registration will start.
We may be also able to offer scholarships. Forecasting the number of students in classes will help us plan and budget.
HS CREDIT & Off/block:
HS Students may receive high school 1/2 credit per semester as with other high school subjects. To receive a credit and grade depends on their work and attendance as the credits will be given at the end of each semester.
As students need to complete 65 hours of work each semester, this course includes homework, ideally for 1.5-2 hours/week (vocabulary learning, reading, writing, record a short video or watch a video and answer questions), and also three (3) Saturday conversation meetings per semester.
Students of grade 10 and higher may request an off-block by their counselor to balance their school work in the first 2 weeks of the semester.
Note: Middle-school students do not receive a HS credit, but will be eligible to enter German 2 in their grade 9 when successfully completing German 1 during grade 8th.
PLACE:
* Weekdays CHS language classroom #117 (optional classroom E10 @ CV tbd)
* Saturdays DSC classrooms #1, #7/8, #11/12 (Harrison/35th)
