High School German Credit Program

Starting with the academic year 2025-26, Deutsche Schule Corvallis plans to open hybrid style classes for high school students in our area. We plan on opening for all levels this year: German 1^st year, German 2^nd year, German 3^rd year and German 4^th year/AP.

SCHEDULE:
This course will follow the CSD calendar starting September 3rd, 2025.
* German 1 and German 2: Fridays 2:30-4:20 (2x 50 min + 10 min break)
* German 3/4/AP: Wednesdays 2:30-4:20 (2x 50 min + 10 min break)
* All classes will also meet three times per semester on Saturday for 2 hours for review and speaking activities. Semester 1: Oct. 25, Nov 22, Jan. 10th; Semester 2: Feb. 28, April 25, May 30th.

BOOKS:
We will use books from the CHS library. We also hope to include a workbook for each student to help them to organize the material (cost tbd).

TUITION:
Based on 10 students/class, we estimate $980/year/student ($490/semester) that can be paid quarterly if needed. 
Exact cost will be known after Aug 1st, 2025.

CREDIT:  
Students will receive 1/2 credit per semester as with other high school subjects. To receive a credit and grade depends on their work and attendance. As students need to complete 65 hours of work each semester, this course will include homework, ideally for 1.5-2 hours/week (vocabulary learning, reading, writing, record a short video or watch a video and answer questions) that will be due on Sunday evenings via our Google classroom.

PLACE:
* Weekdays in CHS language classroom
* Saturdays DSC classroom (Harrison/35th)

REGISTRATION:  
Fill out the online registration form, ideally check both semesters (Semester 1 and Semester 2); but students can re-apply for each semester individually.
