All first year students are invited to a celebration of verbs. We will conjugate verbs, have conversations using verbs, and even learn some “verb magic”.


Wednesday, December 2, 2020, 5:30 – 6:30 pm, for all students 
Visiting Christmas Markets 
Presented by Elizabeth Jones, Co-host: Ludmila Schuster

Tonight we will take a brief tour of Christmas markets in Berlin, Munich, Dresden, Cologne, Vienna, and Bern.  Besides learning about the usual activities (music, meeting friends, watching artisans work, shopping for handmade gifts), seasonal food, and drink, we will see how this year’s markets plan to create new and festive traditions to celebrate Christmas 2020.

German Poetry of the Winter and Holiday Season
Presented by Erika Schoell, Co-Host: Ludmila Schuster

Come and join us for our 3rd Tuesday ZOOM Presentation – this time we will talk about Adventszeit and read several German poems about winter and holidays. Read with us, learn new vocabulary and enjoy the full German environment with Glühwein or hot chocolate 🙂 Materials will be available via website or from Ludmila a week prior the class.

First year students are invited to learn about German holiday traditions, sing a few songs, and read our first educational articles. Bring you favorite holiday drink to enjoy while we learn new Christmas vocabulary.

Holiday Party

Third year students are invited to practice hearing comprehension (Mein erster Tag war wunderbar), reading (Natur im Wohnzimmer), and vocabulary review (Beim Abendessen). This would be a good time to enjoy a special holiday snack while learning.

Second/third year students are invited to learn about letters to Santa Claus, spending the night in an Igloo Hotel, and reading articles about how COVID is affecting life in Germany. Hot chocolate and Lebkuchen from Trader Joe’s sound good!
